Mark Lowry Quotes

I was led to these two Mark Lowry quotes.  I like them both.

"Love the sinner, hate the sin? How about: Love the sinner, hate your own sin! I don't have time to hate your sin. There are too many of you! Hating my sin is a full-time job. How about you hate your sin, I'll hate my sin and let's just love each other!"

and

"We don't help people by showing them our trophies.  We help them by showing them our scars."

I hope my blog is scar-filled just enough to help you and not turn you off.

  1. I honestly don't get it. So I'm supposed to love the child rapist (fine), but not hate his child-raping? I'm supposed to love the murderer, but not hate his murdering? On something so important as this, he needs to watch his words. Oh, and while he claims he doesn't have time to hate the the sins of the sinners, he has time to tell the rest of us to (apparently) be indifferent about the sins of others.

    1. I think he means for us to be more concerned with ur own sin and mistakes than judgint others or being concerned with theirs. TO work on our own transgressions, of wheich we often have many, and not be concerneid as much with where others are in their walk.

  2. Thanks for your comment, Mr. Woodburn. I can't speak for Lowry, so I don't know what he means by these quotes. What I get out of these quotes is this: I am in control of myself and no one else. I can love other people, but I cannot change them. I might be able to set a good example by living a life full of love, but maybe not. I can only change myself. Life is short. Let's focus our energy on positive ways we can actually improve this world, by starting with ourselves. Peace and love to you, sir.

  3. I agree Becky, I believe the "Hate the sin" 'saying' is a vague way of judging others sins as 'worse than our own'. I def think he means that we should hate the sin in ourselves and change what we can change. Then and only then can we show others that they can do the same, to be the light to the world we are meant to be.

    1. Thanks for your comments, Stephanie! I'm drawn to the light we were meant to be, too. Hopefully not like a moth to a flame. ;)
